New Release by Country Artist Carl Ray Titled "The Old Rugged Cross” Featuring, The Queen of Bluegrass Rhonda Vincent

Nashville's Recording Artist Carl Ray’s new single, “The Old Rugged Cross” feature’s a guest appearance by The Queen of Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent and will be released to radio in August 2023. Ray’s voice, likened to Vince Gill for his tenor appeal, laced with Vincent’s distinct Bluegrass tone delivers a passionate, poignant rendition of this Gospel classic. 

“The Old Rugged Cross” was produced by Ray and Greg Cole for Slaw Dog Productions in Nashville. Ray is excited several Bluegrass pickers joined him such as, Darrin Vincent on bass, Seth Taylor on Acoustic and Mandolin, B.J. Cherryholmes on Fiddle, Josh Swift on Dobro. 

Born and raised in Texas, Ray was discovered by Reggae International Artist, Johnny Nash. Ray penned songs for Nash on Epic and London Records titled “You’re the One”, “We’ve Got Trouble”, “Sing World A Love Song” and “Baby You’re Mine”. And “Baby I believe In You” recorded by Jazz artist Bill Summers.

 Ray also released: “I Love Country Music” and “Play That Country Music Black Boy”, “Coming Home”, “I Stand With This Country”, “I Can See Clearly Now” (originally sung by his mentor, Johnny Nash), “Moments Like This” and "Just Gotta Live With It”. Ray has shared the stage with Wade Hayes, Hank Thompson, and Junior Brown Marty Stuart, Pam Tillis, Jason Aldean, Mark Wills, Neal McCoy, The Del McCoury Band and more. Ray has also performed with the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ray joined forces with honky-tonk crooner David Ball to record a “Text Book Case On What Not To Do” and has been interviewed by the Associated Press, Billboard Magazine, US News and World Report, Legacy Magazine, Green Card Magazine, Richmond Times, Denver Post, The Rolling Stones, Fox News, Cashbox Magazine and countless other print media as well as major cyber zines.
