The Hyssongs’ “Worship Medley” glorifies the Lord

Though their first single for Horizon Records (“Good News Savior”) is just now hitting the airwaves, The Hyssongs have lost no time in bringing new music to followers of the Maine family’s musical ministry. And where their last single, “It’s Not Over Yet,” linked faith in God’s healing power to the story of daughter Makayla’s health challenges, their new “Worship Medley” includes a passage that introduces a new strand of the group’s vocal tapestry by featuring Makayla herself.

“Along with producer Jeff Collins, we put together three inspirational songs that glorify and worship the Lord,” recounts Richard Hyssong. “My daughter, 17-year-old Makayla, takes the lead on ‘Shout To The Lord.’ This is the first time she has been featured on a Hyssong album. Her emotional rendition of this anthem brought tears to everyone in the studio while recording.”

Joining three of the most beloved worship songs of decades past into a single, expansive performance, The Hyssongs and award-winning producer Jeff Collins place Makayla’s moving take on “Shout to the Lord” at the heart of the family’s “Worship Medley,” preceded by an energetic opening “You Are Good” and followed by the dramatic, string-driven affirmation of “Awesome God” that underlines its majestic message with an extended orchestral finale.

“With all of the noise and issues in this world,” says Richard Hyssong, “these songs will help us reflect on almighty God and bring us to the point of worship.”
