Lauren Talley’s “Look At The Lamb” is an anthem for the church

“About three years ago,” recalls singer/songwriter Lauren Talley as she recounts the origins of her latest single for Horizon Records, “I saw a YouTube video that completely changed how I look at life and ministry. The Passion Conference, held in Atlanta, showed a moment where the worship leaders stopped singing, fell on their faces before the Lord, and the entire stadium was overcome by the presence of God. That video taught me to pursue His presence above all else.

“Out of inspiration from watching that,” she continues, “I took ‘Look At The Lamb’ to my friend Tony Wood, and together wrote what I think will be an anthem for the church for many years to come. The Scripture reading is the same passage read that day in Atlanta, and here, it’s narrated by the incomparable Gloria Gaither.”

From the hushed, intimate framing of Talley’s voice at its opening to its majestic closing moments, “Look at the Lamb” offers a crescendo that underlines the worship song’s simple yet profound message, encouraging listeners to focus on the vision of a merciful Christ and the salvation He brings:

Look at the lamb, Heaven’s King

Here with us, light from his face

His great heart full of love

Eyes filled with grace

He has come to seek and save

Isn’t Jesus so amazing

Isn’t Jesus glorious

He’s Messiah

He is mercy

He’s the only worthy one

Says Talley, “I pray all else disappears as you ‘Look At The Lamb.’”
